POP/ROCK GROOVES: SUBMARINE.
"Submarine" Solo Idea.
Drawing on Gregg's extensive experience with a wide range of artists from Maynard Ferguson, Don Henley and Santana to Toto, Linda Ronstadt, Larry Carlton and Ringo Starr as well as his own solo projects, this educational DVD clearly defines what the often used term playing for the music really means. Throughout the over 4-hour, two-disc DVD set, Gregg stresses the importance of listening to and experiencing as many different styles as possible first hand in order to gain a full appreciation for each style. The set includes eight band tracks from Gregg's two solo albums, including small and big band jazz, funk, Afro-Cuban, samba, blues shuffle, fusion and rock styles.
Absolutely genius. Thinking too much does indeed kill you...
Spend the years learning disciplines and let it as as it comes. The reason we train our hands and feet isn't to think through a song but to feel through a song. The training/thinking part during practice is only to give your creativity something to flow through.
