Several tips on metal detecting park areas, some research tips, and pictures of common items found in parks.

This information is available in most detecting books, and magazines, and is offered for new detector users, and to refresh the memories of experienced detector users. You should always check your local laws and park rules and regulations, to make sure metal detecting in your area parks is permitted.

You can also apply these tips in searching yards, but, always ask the home owner for permission to detect on their property, beforehand.

The thrill of finding something that you never know what it will be next, is amazing. And being outside in the fresh air, getting some excercise, and finding someones lost coins or jewelry is an added bonus to metal detecting.

Enjoy searching for "treasure" in the parks.

  • funny how that mulch was disturbed prior to finding the quarter??

  • @broanny

Guess you didn't watch close enough under the coil when I first got the quarter signal. The mulch wasn't disturbed.

After scanning the signal a few times, I moved forward and moved the mulch with my foot to mark the spot, so I could get the target.

Next time--- I will show my ragged old tennis shoes move the mulch in the video, to prove that I found a clad quarter in a totlot. ;o)

  • Thanks everyone. I appreciate the comments and ratings.

  • Fun hunt thx

  • My play grounds are alway good for about a $100.00 a year in clad. and the gold is extra.

  • I bought a metal detector last year and a local park is so far where I've mainly gone metal detecting. So far in the few times I've gone I've found $2.19 in coins out there just in one or two spots. I think most of it has been pennies, nickels, and dimes.

  • I have some problems with my back, but would LOVE to go out metal detecting. Do you know of any fairly light, but decent metal detectors?? I would love to take my granddaughters out metal detecting with me, are any of the kid's metal detectors even useful, would hate to buy them expensive ones if they end up not liking it.

  • @diggindaddy u dont need a permission on public places like beaches, parks and so.but here in germany you need a permission for hunting on school yards.dont know if you need it in the usa.greetings from germany and Happy Hunting

  • If you ever get down to Central Florida, look me up, we will go on a hunt together. There is some great old woods with an old house I am not wanting to go in there alone LOL

  • Even though I knew this, I had forgotten about the trees and check out my video of the gold ring I just found Saturday at the base of a tree. I almost didn't dig it as it was giving me a ghost signal. Thanks for reminding me to check the trees. I owe you one :)
