I played Yankee Doodle at the Pennsylvannia Academy of Music (Oct. 2008). Belgian violinist/composer Henri Vieuxtemps wrote this piece for an American tour in the 1840's. Yankee Doodle Variations received an ecstatic welcome from American audiences, so much so that Vieuxtemps ultimately regretted writing the piece that American audiences always demanded he play.

  • I never knew such an epic Yankee Doodle existed. o___o''

    GREAT JOB!

though I'm little late with that xD

  • @MrAgentCooki , Thanks!!! The Vieuxtemps Yankee Doodle is a hilarious encore, always! :)

  • Did you ever played Bruch violinconcerto #1, 2nd mvmt, "adagio" I believe one of the most lyric?

  • Indeed I have played it, Scarognato. It is so beautiful. I also like the slow movement of the Scottish Fantasy!

  • Yeah, I played that yesterday.

  • 32 dislikers do not like "Yankees"... I guess

  • This is the best performance I've seen of this little encore yet. The only problem is that the piano tends to drown out the violin. Heifetz always performed close to the microphone. That difficult harmonics passage was play very well. You can hear every glistening note. I've always enjoyed Ann Fontanella's playing & would gladly buy a ticket to see her perform.

  • Of course that change from the other violinistic repertory!!

Grate to play it,is not so known today!

  • BRAVO

  • @Annfontanella That's very nice of u to try out different style of pieces, Annfontanella. U are an incredible violinist.

  • You can bet viewers of FOX "News" would scream:

"Violinist scams public: she's just playing the same tune over and over! She's a fraud!" ;)

  • That is an almighty fun piece to play. I've (sort of) played it (well, I can't get the harmonics) - of course, nothing like you!

    Thanks for posting!

  • This is really quite stupendous, and i can't stomach some of the comments below, as they lack the necessary accollades required by such an exceptional display of genius.
