Preview for my final project "Of Mice and Moon", in response to "Whack the Moon" creative brief given under the Advanced Media Production course at UNSW.
"Of Mice and Moon" will explore the power of dreams, and how slowly these dreams fade over time. The dreams we have as children, and how they are drowned out and corrupted by secular adulthood, "what job shall I get?", "what time is the meeting?", "what suit should i wear or car should i buy?"..
The dream is lost. This mimics Steinbeck's novel "Of Mice and Men", exploring the futility of the American dream. In this way, to walk on the moon was a dream, it was innocent, it was a national dream. Now, we venture on from it. Now, we whack the moon with a disused satellite probe to kick up some dust and search for water...
This film was shot on a Lumix GF1 using a wide angle lens, imported as an AVCHD lite format and editing using Final Cut Pro. By Mark Starmach, 2010.
