@DillonStewart12 I have heard this song since release. I went back, youtubed it a few times and stand by my original statement. Aside from some syncopation, it is yet another strum-strum ho hum from a guy that can't sing. His band is a bunch of fine players at a stoner's beckon call and paycheck! I'll take Steve Howe or Steve Morse. Lindsay Buckingham pisses on Mr Matthews. His acoustic Big Love will back me up!

@sunboyfun go play tripping billies, sing along with it, and then tell me dave matthews is a mediocre guitarist.

Jeff Coffin, however, is absolutely brilliant. Having heard the rest of the DMB, I can clearly hear the high level of musicianship. I always looked at it like the Emperor's New Clothes: Dave Matthews caught the ear of the public for whatever reason, it became a good gig but I view the material and Dave himself as the least interesting aspects of the group of players. Now that it snowballed, who is gonna tell Dave this?

I knew this would not be a popular stanse but I stand by it. I am not trying to stir up the ire of DMB fans, and I honestly tried to "get it" for years working in music retail and hearing DMB over and over. I heard a very capable band playing disorganized ideas. There is a difference between a jam that develops and just thrown together music. DMB always seemed the latter to me. Dave's voice is utterly poor, sorry. His guitar playing shows its boundries and limitations.
@joshyoda With all due respect, Carter Beauford is the best musician in DMB. But Coffin is not far behind. And DMB's music is not "simple." Some songs maybe, but that is a misnomer for most of their music.

Well what if both Leroy and Jeff play from their heart and souls? Wouldn't the outcome be different because they have lived different lives? just because one player may come off as "showy" to you doesn't mean they aren't playing from their heart and spirit.
It seems we come from opposite ends of the spectrum. Leroi's playing has never left me in awe. He is iconic in his sound that he leaves behind on all the DMB records he's on but he has never moved me in an emotional way. just my opinion
