A midi file of playing on this video is available on my web site at http://www.Lot2learn.com

If you made a list of all the pianists who in one way or another changed the course of modern day jazz piano, the name Chick Corea would undoubtedly be near the top. His song writing ability, flawless technique, spot-on rhythm and incredible improvisational skills have stood the test of time and make his playing cherished and revered by listeners all over the world. From electric to acoustic, then back to electric, then back to acoustic - he's done it all and with impeccably high standards.

This video actually started out as two separate videos recorded about 1 month apart. Through the magic of video editing I have combined them into one. The first part is in stereo but the second part I had already recorded in mono. I also was able to use an enhanced keyboard graphic to better view the notes I am playing in the first section, but not the second. This keyboard is from the program "Power Tracks Pro" from PG music (makers of Band in a Box). The keyboard graphic is actually pretty small in the program but I was able to stretch it using Adobe Premiere Elements.

  • voicings you used are gorgeous

  • @markle91 Thanks, I appreciate your comment.

  • Improvisation and left hand comping was superior!!!

    One thing...

The main line of 500 Miles High (the one at 1:02 when the song starts) in this video are in the wrong key. Instead of C, G, G#, C#, G, F....it should be G, D, D#, G#, D, C. This should be right...judging by the key you played the song in.

    Try it out!

  • @KeepThePocket Yes you are right. That's what I get for not looking at the lead sheet at all and just going by what I remembered by ear. I realized it after I recorded it but felt the rest was pretty good and I didn't feel like doing another take. So just consider it my own "interpretation". ;-)

  • great improvisation...love your substitutions near the end. keep it coming!!

  • @jojothejuju Thanks for your comment.
