  • Do you like the prep program ?( football and everything else included) Is daily life "fun" or does it make you not wanna be there? Also how is the competition at the prep school, about how big do you have to be as a DE so you don't get your ass handed to you? I am a senior and am in the recruiting process for army, still waiting to hear if I'm going the prep school route or not (Kinda hope I do, I'm a little undersized at 6'3" 215.) Anyways thanks for the help and advice, I appreciate it

  • Oh, that's awesome. What coach is recruiting you?

Look, the competition here (at least to me) isn't that tough. Most Army recruits don't have any other I-A offers...only two people here did (and I only officially got my other I-A, UAB, once I was here). Some of us have a handful of I-AA's, but the majority of the recruits here aren't prospects that you'll see ranked or starred on Rivals, Scout, ESPN...these aren't top-flight athletes here...stars and rankings don't mean everything, but...

  • ...most of these guys played four years of high school ball and just weren't good enough to get recruited elsewhere. I only played two years in HS (and not complete seasons, at that) which is why I didn't land bigger offers. Overall, if you were a good, well-reputed, distinguished HS player...you won't have a problem here at all...and even if you were just above-average, you probably still won't have much trouble...

  • At 6'3/215 you'll hardly be undersized for Army. I think the prep school will be good for you...most of their recruits come through here anyway. When I took my official to West Point, some of the Army players told me that the prep school was "fun" and "you bascially got to do whatever you want". FALSE. I don't know what compelled them to lie to me, but it isn't like that. It's not necessarily a bad place, but it ain't "fun". I don't want to get too long-winded, I'll message you...

  • If you go to Army prep and play football, are you guaranteed a spot(not necessarily on the field) but at west point the next year? Thanks

  • That being said, you still can't be a total screw up. You've got to handle things smoothly at the prep school to better ensure your potential appointment to West Point.

  • You could go in the special forces and have them strap a cannon to your back and nickname you the juggernaut! Now thats a future!

  • Basically, yes. Nothing is 100% guaranteed, but West Point allocates enough spots for all cadet candidates. They don't anticipate that they'll end up giving all 260 slots to USMAPS graduates (since by the end of the year it is normally around 200) but they still have the slots available. They won't tell you this, but it's true. Being a recruited athlete does make admissions standards easier...at school's everywhere, RA's are held to a lower standard. West Point's no different.

  • By the way thats a pretty sick highlight

  • Maryland has a great strength program, you're right. Few schools can match up. Under that kind of program my full potential would be realized. Too bad most programs don't have their caliber of lifting programs.
