I have an Ichiban Eggplant to harvest and some other veggies!

Got rid of 1 zucchini plant and 1 yellow squash plant. They were taking up too much space in the square bed. I planted 2 new zukes and yellow squash in buckets and once they are big enough I'll tear out the other zuke/squash in the square bed.

Finally a few more red tomatoes, but no huge waves of them yet to harvest. I should have a bunch soon though.

  • Can't believe you started the watermelon in a bucket! You didn't transfer the watermelon plant to the ground, did you? I might have missed that so, the root system is still in that blue bucket?? That's crazy wild. Have any ideas what might be good to plant or would survive starting in the summer?

  • @charliem0013 . No i didn't. As for plants to start during the summer it just depends on how long your summer is, but certain bush/determinate types of tomatoes might to well. Also squash and zucchini grow fast.

  • What spray do you speak of when you talk about blossom end rot? Is there something we can spray on the plants to prevent that? This is my first year gardeining so I have never heard of it but that is exactly what happened to my yellow squash that just grew.

  • @chriswal123 . It's called blossom end rot spray and you can get it at Home Depot, Lowes, and even Walmart I think.

  • I wanna do this!, I wonder... it is too late?

  • No, not too late. The season is just starting.

  • I enjoy seeing your garden progress. It makes me want to do this.

  • Be careful with your hay bale.I had a baby copperhead in a hand full of straw as I was mulching the other day. As you can see I haven't gotten over it!

    I love your videos.

  • Some great gardening ideas! Thank you for sharing!

  • yes tie them up... more people should do that... u cold even attache some kind of wooden pole to the top of the bucket and run them upwards if u dont mind them showing over the fence.. u can run long vine plants wherever u want.. more sun exposure the better

  • Did you know that the old timers used to cut the suckers off the tomato plants to force more tomatoes to grow. The suckers are leaves and small stems that do not grow any fruit but only take away nuroushment from the plant.

also when planting the tomato plant burry it very deep leaving only a little of the top showing, I do this all the time it sends out more roots and makes the plant stronger.
