Our vision: Create radically sustainable alternatives to conventional plastics and foams.
Ecovative is a bio-tech startup creating biological composites which displace conventional foams and plastics, such as Expanded Polystyrene. MycoBond™, our patent pending technology, uses a growing organism to transform low value agricultural byproducts, into strong biological composites. These composites have applications in multiple markets, including commercial insulation, structural cores, and protective packaging. Ecovatives long term goal is to become the leader in sustainable materials, developing grown replacements for foams, plastic, and wood like products. In the near-term Ecovative is focussing its comercilization efforts on the protective packaging market, where there is a dire need for a product to replace the huge amounts of EPS (Expanded Polystyrene) which is used every year in shipping.

  • packaging maybe but HEY! construction is a different subject because negligible rates of change in the material can cause big problems in the long run!

  • use this in construction and u might find something strange happening to ur buildings after 25 years... do we have long term rate data on this thing like expansion/contraction and variation of strength with moisture, temperature, force, bacteria, fungi etc? Can it regain biological activity at an extremely low rate? can it become a substrate for other organisms? The undigested biomass that gets incorporated into the structure might gain bio activity in the long run?

  • As an innovative green building contractor the applications of this product would certainly provide a significant contribution in architectural designs focused on the Living Building Challenge and I welcome the opportunity to further exploring its properties and realizing its potential applications. Great work. Keep with it.

  • I study architecture, and I would love to have a piece of material! I live in Serbia and how can I order it?

  • I want small portion to incorporate in my current project .. How do I get some ??

  • Guys .. you are my heros :) I'm very impressed. I know you will give us better world. Once again ... amazing idea and uses for your products. Wish you all the best . YOU ARE THE FUTURE !

  • Congrats on a excellent alternative for styro foam!

    Go RPI!
