2011 Abilene Wheatstock Grill-off & Flower Power BBQ Contest w/ The Good Sam Club BBQ Band

Wheatstock Grill-Off: Peace, Love and Barbeque is a Kansas City Barbeque Society State Championship contest. Winners qualify for the American Royal BBQ Competition!

Do you smoke the best BBQ of anyone you know? This is a great way to show off your skills, have some friendly competition and win prizes! The top winners in the Pork, Brisket, Ribs and Chicken categories will be rewarded, as well as overall winners! The total purse is $5,400. Winners in the dessert and cook's choice categories will also be awarded!

Wheatstock Background

Memorial Health Foundation, the organizer of Flour Power, was established in 2005 to support our local nonprofit health care system, Memorial Health System, in its mission to deliver the best possible care to every member of its served communities.

Flour Power is a family oriented fundraiser for the Health Foundation with a light-hearted theme highlighting our area's rich agricultural heritage.

Funds raised during the 2011 festival will be used to help fund digital mammography equipment for Memorial Hospital. If you are interested in being a sponsor, please contact the Foundation at (785) 263-6688.

American Rock and Roll with a Little Country and a Little Blues

We are a two guitar, bass, vocal, & drum band that have played together in a musical co-op for about 30 years... (In addition, we can add harmonica, accordion, keyboard, trombone and a second percussionist as the need occurs.) We play distinctive shows, about 1 to 4 gigs a month, some for pay and some for free (charitable causes, Good Samaritan basis).

We feel our music and our shows create a fun, jamming, open, vibrant atmosphere that makes the band part of the event (rather than dominating the event) and thus, allows the event to breath.

We supply all sound reinforcement equipment. We can even supply a power generator if needed.

All members of the band are knowledgeable and dedicated musicians, who share a love for a diversity of musical styles and the honesty of live performance. This makes for a nice group of musicians who really want to play live shows.
