A Russian foundation devoted to democracy and human rights is setting up shop in the United States. The Moscow based Institute for Democracy and Co-operation has registered a New York branch along with one in Paris. But what is the organization all about? Is Russia trying to teach the West a lesson in democracy?

  • Gotta love Putin's sense of humour. Teach them real, Russian democracy! :)

  • No true. In US there is no real jornalism. Everyone wit a different opinion is simply fired or NEVER hired. Look at 9/11 for example. Totally an INSIDE job! But no journalist will ever brave to tell you that, you must do your own research...US is a corporate dictatorship, a disgusting mockery.

  • most media in US are under corporate control

msnbc for example, is owned by GE

    abc is owned by Disney

the results is they reflect the interest of a very narrow class

i think aviomaster's observation is correct, they are controlled, not by government but concentrated economic power

  • Nonsense. The US has the largest media in the world and from all political perspectives. There is so much news information put out on a daily basis in the US that it is simply impossible for one person to read it all in a day. We have several news portal websites that have dozens of new news articles every day.

So, any American can get any news that they seek since all the news of the world is available here.

It's a free country, not like some countries where government controls the media.

  • Tihbialdunav -- totaly true ... USA HAS NO freedom of the press and media ,.. YOU CAN WATCH ANY STATION ... EVEY ONE OF Them is saying the same thing ... which means they are controlled...

  • it did! 5th century BC Athens how can u say democracy exist in the usa today? when NO candidate has a hope in hell of wining without AIPEC approval? both republicans n democrats AIPEC, AEI, the media monguls, multinational corporations, who care only for their pockets the PRIVATELY OWNED n RUN BANK FEDERAL RESERVE A GROUP OF INTERNATIONAL MONEY MEN have power n control over america's money (scary) they'LL have negative press NO funds NO chance clone N brink Back the great man ABRAHAM LINCON

  • they wouldn't dare preach demogracy to the us! never after all is not THE USA THAT RUNS gitmo and abu graib

now IF the usa was accually running them jails n had innocent people shackled 24/7 for over 7 years with nothing to charge them yes of course they would have had the right to

slowely they have taken away the true freedom the founding fathers of america created but because it was done slowely people have not yet woken up to what is happening BUT they will n the sooner the better

  • Because in Russia there is REAL democracy, not a corporate wish-wash with ONE single opinion on ALL media like in US. You know people get arrested in US if they say something about the biggest lie inmodern times-9/11-set up by US neonazi govmt.

  • but thats what ALL the ngo's do in Russia.

  • ban these "organizations" from this country until russia itself becomes a democracy, thats what i say. i bet all they're gonna do is spread anti-american propaganda right here in the usa instead of "lecturing" us, and hey what do they really know about democracy?
