I don't think there isn't to much I haven't been told BY SOME doctor. I was health, until i end-up with Lyme's. Was it to much to ask to be healthy once more, as I was before Lyme Disease? I'm fighting to live daily, and faced with the red-tape BS. Just to get the help I need. What have we become? To sick to care for ourselves, yet refused by the medical field. DO THEY HOPE, WE WILL DIE, AND THE TRUTH ABOUT THIS DISEASE SWEEP UNDER THE RUG. 37 &SLOWLY DIEING.Thanks Uncle Sam,

Hey guys....PLEASE register at the Oprah Winfrey website and let her know how much you would like to see her do a show on Lyme disease. Dr. Oz thinks the "UNDER OUR SKIN" documentary is wonderful but a show about Lyme won't be done unless she sees lots of interest. Request that LLMDS and patients be the guests so that we can be heard. Also, Daryl Hall would make a great guest. OPRAH needs to hear about YOUR experience with Lyme disease. WE ARE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER !
God Bless,
Elaine

You can definitely transmit Lyme disease through sexual contact. The Lyme bacteria is in the same family as Syphilis which is also caused by spirochete form bacteria.

That hasn't been proven. Some believe it. Some don't.

Thank you for the information. My daughter has been fighting Lyme's for a few years but they have determined she has had it for about 30 years. It has really affected her brain and she is now going to be having a pic line and another bought of antibotics. Horrible disease.

I'm so sorry... I've been sick since I was 14 and know how hard it is to have a chronic illness when you're young (it must have been even harder for you, at just 10 years old!). I hope you find a better doctor soon who will give you the care that you need!

The treatments for chronic/late-stage Lyme are much more difficult... these treatments shouldn't "destroy your health" themselves either, but they are NOT fun, since they can cause symptoms to get worse temporarily as bacteria dies off. And those of us with chronic Lyme often have to stay on these medicines for months or years (and often this disease has destroyed our lives in many ways by the time we get treatment). That's why it's so important to get treatment before it becomes chronic.

It's true that many doctors don't know enough about Lyme... if you think you may have Lyme, look for a "Lyme-literate doctor" or "LLMD" (a term used in the Lyme community—-most regular doctors won't know what you mean if you ask for a referral to one)... you can find one through LymeNet or the Lyme Disease Association website.

And btw, according to the International Lyme and Associated Diseases Society, fewer than 50% of people with Lyme saw a tick or noticed a rash-- see ILADS (dot) org.
