"My Sweet Eyed Georgia Girl," co-written by Stewart Harris and John Rosasco, was probably the best song on the group Atlanta's second album. Neither of Atlanta's two albums were ever released other than on vinyl and probably cassette tape. There was tremendous talent in this group. From vocals by Tony Ingram, Brad Griffis and Bill Davidson, to lead guitar and backup vocals by Alan David, to outstanding drumming by Daryl McAffee, keyboards by Allen Collay and Bill Packard, fiddle playing and drumming by Tony Ingram, harmonica playing by Jeff Baker, guitar playing by Brad Griffis and Bill Davidson, and backup vocals by Dick Stevens, this was one of country rock's great groups. Their first album was their best overall. Most of the songs from that album are posted.

I saw this group while i home on leave while in the Marine Corps in the 80's. They played at the Broward County Youth Fair 1983. I got the 45 record that they had put under all the seats. They were great.

WOW this brings back memories!! We didn't know for years that our daughter thought this song was written for her, and she was surprised as a young adult, when she found out it wasn't! She was really little when here daddy was in the band :)
We really, really miss Tony and Allen.....

If you like ATLANTA write, email, call MCA Records in Nashville...make them release a greatest hits cd!!! There is no reason why a group that sold 1.7 million records should not have anything on the market now. PLease do it! Pass it on.

Just thought you all might want to know that Tony Ingram died last week of what is believed to be a heart attack. He was battling throat cancer. He is survived by his wife and three kids.
