Johor Bahru, Malaysia
The Johor Bahru zoo is located at Jalan Gertak Merah, very close to the city center. This is one of the oldest zoo in the country, built in 1928 by Sultan Ibrahim, right in old palace ground.
This zoo is located in between the Johor Bahru Royal Museum and the beautifully structured Sultan Abu Bakar Mosque, facing the Strait of Johor just opposite Kranji, Singapore.
It was handed over to the local government in the early 1960s to manage and was rightfully opened to the public in 1962.
You can catch any bus that ply along the seafront or take a taxi or even a 15 minutes stroll to reach there.
The zoo covered an area closed to 5 ha consisting of more than 100 species of animals for the public to view. The entrance fee is RM2 for adult and RM1 for children. The zoo opens daily from 8am to 6pm and also during public holidays and school holidays.
