She had extensive facial injuries and her family was told she would look a lot different. After the truth was figured out, the family realized there were clues, but at the time, there was no reason to not believe she was Laura.

when you identify the body it looks totally diffent i mean if someone in your family was in an accident and flown 50ft from the car like whitney tell me you wouldn't have been able to identify that person plus there was so many purses around that they found lara's wallet by whitneys body and with her injury's the just assumed it was her because they cou'dn't i dentify her

i'm reading the book right now... i feel sorry fo both of the families that they have to suffer.. but still i believe God is good and His plan is unquestionable.

You are unbelievable. I hope the families never see your remarks. Accident victims often look nothing like they did prior to the accident. The courage these people have shown is like none I have seen before. I hope no other family ever has to go through what they did.

i have theory how they knew its not her ,and by preying to god and being around her would help spirit off her real daughter come back to that other body,but it didn't so they decided to uncover that so they called "mistake" ,now they making money by writing the book about that "amazing" story ,but its still a terrible tragedy feel sorry for all the families involved .

Read the book "Mistaken Identity"... It will answer a lot of your questions. The Cerak family did not view the body before burial, and the REAL Whitney was so swollen and had so many injuries... Apparently you have never experiences a really serious automobile accident or you would understand! Also, I would never think of questioning a coroner!
