Take a good look at Jews in WW2 Concentration camps and you can easily see how a starvation diet will reduce human body fat and turn a human being into a walking skeleton faster than a Negro on his way to KFC...

This is very late but comments like this are no more than broscience at its finest. There's a difference between literally starving to death while performing many jobs and only eating ~1000 calories a day.

@BodyPerformanceTV steve can you tell us how much of each vitamin and mineral we need everyday?

Steve, I like your videos. I wanted to subscribe to your site but it seams to be down... Is your site down permanently or is it just some temporary technical problem?

@desvio2000 Thats impossible. You cant loose 17 in a day. your body cant burn that much fat in one day and even if you could it ould destroy your body. Blood veins go through your fat and if you burned 17 pounds that fast you would defenitly b in the emergency room. You cant p or poop out 17 pounds in a day either. Dont say sweat either. Your body stops producing after a while. Long before 17 pounds... Hope nobody that needs help actualy listens to u.

@ryemanX22 Your metabolism will slow down, it wont stop completely. And when you continue to eat once your metabolism slows down, it makes no considerably effect in terms of weight loss. Now if you are actually starving, your body metabolism goes down (but not lower than a certain point. It can't stop), but your not getting any food, so in time all your body fat (if you had any to start with) will be consumed for energy.

@harisrg92 You need to determine based on your age, age, weight and activity level, what is your max calories per day allowed. There are several BMR calculators out there that help with that. Then, if your goal is weight loss, try reducing the total daily calories by 10%. Or try increasing the activity level. Or both. Ultimately it's calories in/calories out. If all u do is walk, then determine what the average caloric burn rate per walk is.

Notice anything about people who starved to death ? (they're not fat) so what is he saying that your body isn't going to use the fat in starvation mode.... Uhm yes it will to stay alive, of course your gunna lose muscle also but you'll lose the fat

This is what has happened to me.. I had lost 15 pounds by fasting...eating almost nothing at all.. but now I am not loosing weight any further.. seems like my metabolism has decreased alot that my body got addicted to less calories.... so what do u think I should do? directly jump on to 6 meals a day... How should I make up my diet plan? and yea one more thing to add.. I dont exercise but I do walk alot..
i dont understand 500 cal deficit is okay. 1000 cal is too much?
yet excersising will create a bigger caloric deficit. youre starting to lose me steve?

@Russellt0228 Eating 1000 calories less a day (if you're not over eating to begin with) is not the same as eating 500 less calories and BURNING the other 500. Continually eating less will slow the metabolism. Exercising to WORK off calories maintains the metabolism.

No, this will not affect yourn thyroid. In the United States, the most common cause is Hashimoto's thyroiditis. It causes the bodys immune system to attack thyroid tissue. As a result, the gland can't make enough thyroid hormone. Other things that can lead to low levels of thyroid hormone include surgery to remove the thyroid gland and radiation therapy for cancer. Less common causes include viral infections and some drugs, such as lithium.
