But notice he says, "I wrote that song in the 60's....". Weird. But typically timeless Ochs.

  • @stealurface1976 no just more people are and so its hatder to tune in to something like this because theres 800 channels.

  • @Twistednerver so in short...people think differently now..

  • @stealurface1976 I should have clairified intellectual elitism...is lacking in our society...the worst thing you can be is smart and understanding of points of view, and lack superstition, and be curious about actual meanings beyond superficial labels and explanations. That's become 'elitism' and bad in America..meanwhile...having a billion dollars going to harvard a eating five star cuisine every night is just the American dream which we all certainly have by credit or debit.

  • @stealurface1976 There's also a complete lack of elitism in our society now a days. Instead of telling the masses what they will watch...this fine programming with people disagreeing radically(there's no agenda being pushed)but disagreeing civilly, no one's been called hitler, no one raised their voice Now the masses demand what they want(reality tv, yelling as political discourse). The masses have wanted nothing but bread and circuses since time began.

  • @stealurface1976 People didn't think different back then at all. There was just less tv channels so good programming actually was watched, there was also local broadcasting and such. And because the networks were the only game in town and due to the responsibilities they had for programming, a variety of things got on tv, and to a wide audience. Something like this would still be on(thorough, intellectual conversation)but its likely be on pbs.

  • @94lukepl He's not, as a black man, I find what he saying to be exactly pertinent. That real protest music made by black(blues, reggae for example but also jazz and r&b-or rock and roll as it was renamed)tend to be taken over watered down and white washed to be acceptable and performed by a white guy so it can be sold to white middle class parents for their kids. negros was the pc term for blacks at this time...martin luther king will be saying it any speech.

  • Can anyone tell me where this interview is from please? the programme name, the year and who the presenters are please :) its useful for my dissertation. Thanks

  • @superhoga

  • Folk masses are groovy to the max.

  • 09:24 -- OMG, there it is: the beginning of tacky Catholic folk masses!
