Why can't Dan Simmon's novel become movies ? Even computer adventure games would be welcome in the world of science fiction and/or horror. Fallout 3 is a perfect example of sci fi adventure game. Mr. Simmons' and the developer would make millions.

@LucasSumtimes look here child. the diversity is there. of the main characters and side characters there are multiple ethnic groups, genetic variations and and even androids(well cybrids)...it's all in the story. If you're letting racial insecurity detract from your reading experience than you're a bad reader. open your mind and grasp the themes.

Ok, I'll go for the Time Traveller and give you my feedback.

Regarding the Cantos, yeah, the muslim kills the terrorist, but the jew rejects his god, and all around it.

I have never thought of the diversity of races.... I guess there is some by the names of all the counselors around Meina Gladstone?

On the other side, I find it somehow pathetic this "duty" of having a black and Asian and an blue-eyed, blond European guy in each advertisement, book or movie. It looks so fake...!

I've read the Hyperion Cantos - great books, but where are the black characters, the Asian characters, where is the wealth of diversity that should have been evident in a society as large as the Hegemony? We have only one "Good" Arab character and he first has to prove his loyalty to the zionists by decapitating a rogue mullah live on TV. Great writing.

The Time Traveller is a short story by Dan Simmons, available on google, check it out, it says a lot about the man.

@LucasSumtimes Well I am one of those who thinks that the Hyperion Cantos are great. I've never got a hint of Simmons being racist, zionist, and I cannot imagine that he is ignorant or his thought shallow, but somehow I appreciate this comment with such a different opinion. I'll take a look at this David Zindel, but you could try the Hyperion books (I've not read Carrion Comfort, maybe it was the wrong novel). Good luck

I read Carrion Comfort and in response to those who think this Zionist mutt is epic - yeah, he's an epic raciest, I've never read anything so ignorant or shallow in my life -

I guess when a Jewish man is raciest its ok, but if any other race had written the stuff Simmons pulls out of his arse they'd be strung up by the fingers.
