Windows is better than Linux? How very dare we say such a thing? This is actually a big, fat lump of troll bait that should be reeling them in all the way from the other side of the Internet. Oh, how we look forward to the indignant feedback. Truly.

  • I thought Chis was going to outline "7" reasons Windows is better than Linux but he just mentioned one. Hmmm..

  • Basicly i have to disagree with all the Windows: out of the box lovers! I had to install a ton of drivers to get my win7 working, tho i had no wireless i used my old HP Laptop, which is running PinguyOS to get all the drivers online and put them on a stick, so i could install them on Windows... I never used a sudo command in PinguyOS or Linuxmint and i am a totally GNU/Linux noob. My HP runs out of the box, wireless just worked out of the box. many usefull programs, skype, teamviewer, chats...

  • @kahrytan oh, is that why, i have to get a shit ton of drivers for everything, namely wifi drivers, ehh i need internet to get wifi drivers, therefore i am fucked, therefore it does not work straight out of the box, most linux distros come with a lot of wifi drivers, while it is a pain to install the ones that arent included, it is usually a non issue

  • The biggest point he made was that most people who aren't in computers don't bother with alternatives or try something else.

When they get home they just use a chat to talk to someone, surf online and listen to music.

Basically they don't want to bother with sudo commands, synaptic or have a minimal understanding of computers, since next-next and finish its easy.

Basiclly windows is for all ages but the problem that windows has is that its too standard for people who are above avarage users.

  • @ubuwarrior No, its true.

  • @ubuwarrior it is

  • Do Mac vs Linux.

  • "but if you walk let's say into a store..."

    Stores?!?

Where we're going, we don't need "stores".

  • @ElasticGiraffe Thats true but windows has the better Drivers if you look on that performancewise. If Linux would have better Drivers i would Use it only

  • There are some very simple Linux distributions, e.g., Ubuntu-based distros. The same people who prefer Windows for its "out of the box" value probably also pay for antivirus software and use IE because they're afraid of messing up their computer by downloading another browser. The one and only advantage Windows has in my opinion is in the area of compatibility--and WINE takes care of most of those issues.
