The typical "9-to-5" mentality in this country is quickly wearing thin anyway. A lot more of us in the African American community are working on becoming entrepreneurs. We are just trained to finish high school, then get a college degree. Then, still, from then on, we are told that the only real way to have an income of ANY kind is to just become paid "slaves".
@fistoffries Good point. Keep in mind though, that kids from good backgrounds can turn out bad. Sad but true. I know a drug dealer who blames his mother for his chosen 'profession'. She is a hard working woman.Sad she is blamed for his decision.
@fistoffries That is a very well thought out statement. I believe that some of it is because we want to grab the little credit that we can. But overall, people in general do that. When there is screw up in the bunch, do you notice how NO ONE takes the credit for it? We always assume that when it comes to BM if they are educated etc, it's because of their mother. But if they are a hoodlum, we assume the father wasn't around or was a failure. It's a sad assumption.
The question could also be asked, why to black women want to take credit for every successful black man but distance themselves from the unsuccessful ones (or directly or indirectly blame the father) ?
I agree with a lot of what you said, but there's an underlying premise that "owning a business" is the pinnacle or success, or at least more successfull than working for someone. I used to feel this way myself until I investigated starting a business.
Some of the benefits of NOT owning a business is the amount that you make versus the amount of time required to do it. A business owner making 100K is likely working 80-90 hours/per week to do it.
Why are bw always to blame when bm don't succed in life? Blame the men who weren't there for you instead villainizing the one person who cared for you. BP Always want to blame someone.
I know this is not the point of this video, but why is it such a big deal that the guys woman makes more money than him? It shouldn't matter. If he were a lazy bum sitting on the couch, than it would be different.
If you noticed colleges don't teach you to be a business owner they teach you to be followers in other words to be an employee instead which means to follow orders period. And in todays world the economy doesn't make it easy to own a business anyway hell it is hard to find a job let alone run a business. And segregation does still exist in this country it is just done in a different manner so it is hard to see.
own your life..nuff said

@ThePhoenixVixen That's a good and fair point.
