"Rock Island Line" IS a Leadbelly number, also made famous by Johnny Cash during his Sun Records era, and countless other folk singers. I am very grateful to hear this excellent and complete (almost) version by John Lennon.

the best thank you

speed too slow, he played it really fast

As some have noted, it's a Leadbelly song, but Lennon probably, actually almost certainly, heard it from Lonnie Donegan. It was a big hit in England, and the start of the Skiffle era (1956? I was about 10...)). It was Donegan that made British boys want to play music.
I never heard this before. It's a real gem.
