  • Fuckin' great! ; )

  • "Rock Island Line" IS a Leadbelly number, also made famous by Johnny Cash during his Sun Records era, and countless other folk singers. I am very grateful to hear this excellent and complete (almost) version by John Lennon.

  • the best thank you

  • speed too slow, he played it really fast

  • As some have noted, it's a Leadbelly song, but Lennon probably, actually almost certainly, heard it from Lonnie Donegan. It was a big hit in England, and the start of the Skiffle era (1956? I was about 10...)). It was Donegan that made British boys want to play music.

I never heard this before. It's a real gem.

  • holly shit its on of my favorite blues songs sung by my favorite musician of all time

  • smiling now :)

  • Its a cover of Leadbelly's 'Rock Island Line'...

  • it's a leadbelly song. look him up. i named my dog after him. You've probably heard the Nirvana cover in their unplugged session by the same man. Many songs of his were covered.

  • the best fabulus john
