Just a couple of choruses from Cliff Edward's 1936 'under the counter' hit, "I'm Going to Give it To Mary With Love." Played on a dark-stained mid-20's Martin Style 2 that I just picked up on Ebay. I believe that this instrument belonged to vaudevillian Prince Wong (George Ah Louis), who painted his signature and the pictogram for "Huang" (Wong) on the lower bout of the ukulele. The nut needed to be shimmed, and the second fret reset, but after that, this 86+ year old uke was ready to play.

  • It brings a smile to hear that even back then, when folks "seemed" more proper, they still longed to be naughty and express that side of human nature. That song, especially on the uke, is funny and fun. You captured that "20s" style perfectly. Very well done! Cool!

  • @mrfester42 Thanks a lot! I appreciate it.

There are a lot of "plain brown wrapper" records from then - some, I can't even repeat the names of. :D

  • great right hand stuff!
