for the Game Gear try adjusting the brighness knob (on the right side), that angles the light so maybe you can get a better angle than that one.
Also yeah, its battery life is atrocious. I only use mine with an AC adapter, it's just lucky that it works with Genesis 2 / 32X power supplies, so you don't need some obscure power supply to use it. I probably would barely touch it if I didn't have an ac adapter for it.
As for games, yeah, I agree, the GB and GBC have far more good games than the GG.

awesome video, as always. ^_^ loved the intro, btw. i remember the batteries running low rather quickly on the Game Gear. that was really annoying, especially when the games couldn't save.
