Then I heard it much more distinctly and it was clearly the sound of several people wailing or screaming. I just turned and ran back to the steps as my friend was coming down because it terrified me! Later as we were driving away my husband looked up the castle online and read about how people can still hear the the screams of the people who fell when the kitchen collapsed into the ocean... I couldn't believe it! When I told them what happened before they came down the steps we all got chills!!

Wow. I looked up this castle because I found out that my distant relative, the MacQuillins, used to own the castle. Of course our last name eventually lost the Mac, but that's where we're from. That's so weird that you guys are related to them too. We're probably distant relatives! hahah

Hey! I'm a MacQuillen, on my paternal side! That's my last name even now, except the "Mac" was lost, of course. I would love to go see the castle, too see what my ancestors saw. I know it'll be a wonderful feeling. It's a shame it was allowed to fall into ruin, but at least it still stands!
We're distant relatives!! :)

Thats a bit mad. I can imagine the feeling you're describing. Could well be flashback of past experience. I'm gonna add you as a friend here.
Oh my heavens I went there last month... it was just twilight and I had no idea about the history of the castle. I ran down the steps to the base of the castle where the cave is, ahead of my husband and our friend. When i stopped and looked around, all of a sudden I got this feeling of terror and of being VERY alone, and I thought I could hear a far-off sounding wail from the direction of the cave. So I stepped closer to get a better look see if that's where the sound was coming from....

@svlake Yes its a creepy wee place alright, wouldn't really like to be there at night either. Nice part of the world though!

@sp00ktube Well luckily enough it's quite isolated and remote so I think thats what saved it. Really interesting history, I would recommend looking it up online.

It really IS a bit mad! I think it's genetic memory. That may be a less spooky or amazing explanation than a past life flashback...but who knows?? All I know for sure is that I'm drawn there, and I want to go down in the Mermaid Cave and sing. By myself perhaps.
But I don't think I'd want to go to Dunluce at night either--I don't like the dark! I can visualize very clearly being there in the dark, and it's very frightening. Many bad things must have happened there in its long history.
