Hmm. HD obviously provides a better picture when watching HD programming. Unfortunately SD tv looks like shit on a HDTV. So, if you're like me, and like watching old programming/movies as well as new then an HDTV is not a good choice. Just an example: my brother in law bought a 50" high end Sony HDTV which is mostly used by his kids to watch old cartoons and stuff. The shows look awful and when his kids are over they marvel at how good my old 36" WEGA looks :P
Lol, no offense, but I figured that an E6 would be better capable of rendering a persuasive argument. All I caught from this is that HD makes sports-watching more enjoyable, but I'm not really all that big on sports. :)
