After reading several good reviews and watching some tests on YouTube, I got myself the Zoom H4n audio recorder today.

The setting I used: Stereo, 90 degree mic angle, input volume at 50. There are so many functions in this tinny thing I don't think I'll ever use even half of them.

Sorry I couldn't play the cakewalk and reverie properly. I've only just started learning these 2 pieces.

  • GReat recordings. I'm about to buy an H4n for my piano recordings. Thanks for sharing.

  • @marcelochiarella

my pleasure. I'm loving this little recording gem!

  • Excellent sound,

but why does it sometimes varies considerably:

    0 to 30" - noisy

    38" to 1' - good

    1'05" to 2' - noisy again

    2'05" to 3'40" - good

  • @feanando

    0 to 30" video camera built-in microphone

    38" to 1' Zoom recorder

    1'05" to 2' video camera built-in microphone

    2'05" to 3'40" Zoom recorder

  • wow...beautiful sound and performance

  • great playing, do you have a mac or a pc?

  • I have a Tascam DR 2 d and it generates for my taste the best recordings. But I make recordings with pipe organs (mighty bass and cristall highs) and I searched a long time. I also compared the H4 with Tascam. The H4 is not the best one, thats my opinion. Not because of the features, only the original sounds made the difference.

  • @1400steven The zoom H1 have the same microphones, so you will have the exactly same quality (I own one). The differences are that you can do nothing exept just record with the H1. With the zoom H4, you have a lot of differents functions that you can use. If you want the H1, go for it !

  • Hey, how do you think the Zoom H1 would put up against this? I also play piano, but do not have enough money to afford an H4N.

  • @tubbie0075 If it makes me sound like you at the piano, I'm buying it. :-D
