This presentation spotlights Abdi Farah, the winner of Work of Art, a recently concluded creative competition among contemporary artists from across the United States for a cash prize and this exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum. The competition aired weekly as a Bravo cable television series—a reality show, much like others that have pitted aspiring chefs or fashion designers against each other.

different mentality.reality TV is looked down in the EU, the art world is super uppity in europe.you have to be able to paint well and wax lyrics about your own work , be able to defend and be able to promote it in your own niche.This show is not that bad cos there are a few things that I discovered there . I am an artist myself.

@port44life...Indeed! Abdi is very gifted and has a great, creative mind. Hoping he will continue to grow and experiment in his work. Wow!! And to never let anyone feel he is less because he was on a tv show. TV helped bring him to attention (a blessing in a world that closes the door in our faces so much-I'm an artist too), but his artist mind was always already there.

SOMALIA!!! Good to see the great side of Somali people amidst the ugliness that is portrayed about them today and historically. Great job ABDI! I hope your work and your life continues to focus on people and situations; example the Tuskegee piece, and helping your people in Somalia as well.... inshaAllah! peace

HE didn't lay out his own work!? I thought this was a contemporary art museum not a local arts council.
