  • Not seen this before, thanks for the upload. Great interview with Carpenter, he's a living legend. Good little documentary.

  • I was on board till the end when he says horror wasn't as good after '78. That's crap, 80's horror is the pinnacle, buddy's out of his mind!

  • Reason I'm a filmmaker now thank you John.

  • @KratosaurusRex

Well it wasn't Carpenter who said that, it was the tool interviewer who just mindlessly says what's in his script.

Also, I highly doubt "making-of" videos destroyed the horror genre. What destroyed it was the lack of execution, pacing, and character/setting development. Most of them jumped straight to the action, destroying any sense of suspense.

  • cheers buddy.

  • @JimmyHoffa404 No John Carpenter is right.the reason is in the 80s Horror movies begun selling videos showing making-off footage, which ended up killing the fear effect off watching a horror flick.eg When you watch the remakes of Friday the 13th or Nightmare on elm street, final destination or the thing,we don't get scared instead we enjoy seeing the antagonist slay and decapitate his victims.
