I personally heard Sy speak at my church, and his sermon was one of the most powerful and Spirit-led sermons I've ever heard. He is a man who was gay and lived that lifestyle for about half his life, but is now happily married as a heterosexual man and has been following and serving God for the past 30 years. He's gone through a lot in his life, and please don't bash him.

And even if you're gay, straight, or confused, God loves you NO MATTER WHAT. He just wants you to realize that.

Sy is an easy target ... anyone can attack, mock and deride him and his beliefs.

However, the point is not his or anyone else's sexuality.

Neither is religious duty, code of ethics or denominational standing worthy of debate.

The point is God is no respecter of persons, and as Sy said so eloquently '...God is nice to me'

Because I have also discovered God is nice to me, I too can be nice to others I don't understand or even agree with.

And that alone is worthy of consideration.

As a gay man of faith, I appplaud your choice to try and change. If you were successful, that may be God's plan for your life. I applaud your faith, but I wish folks like you would not judge God's plan for the rest of us. I have prayed about it, and believe God has called me to a life of integrity and honesty as a gay man. Granted, there IS a lifestyle called promiscuity...which is common in both homosexuals and heterosexuals. I plan to live a committed life, and avoid that.

I was living a gay lifestyle but God led me out of it. He showed me that He loved me and that I needed to repent and trust in Christ. I love Jesus more and more the more I realise what He did for me by dying on that cross... Those temptations are still there, but the bible says to crucify your flesh and live to God. If I do sin, which all men do, it's our nature:1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Well, Sy Rogers was not actually a homosexual. He was a heterosexual who, by his own testimony, was molested, and deprived of gender edification, causing him to seek male effection and even go so far as to seek a sex change to feel adequate. He is not "ex-gay". He was never gay. He was a deeply emotionally and sexually wounded heterosexual whom the Lord has healed and restored to HIS natural heterosexual identity.
