In precisely replicating Galileo's telescopes we have developed an interesting way of checking photographically the shape along the body of the telescope. In this method the radius is magnified but not its length which is kept constant. To get quantitative data one has to give credit for the barrel distortion introduced from the camera and correct for it. Also the analysis should be done from the top and side views of the telescope. In this way one get a good idea of the diameter with length. we also have increased the contrast of the photos to more easily see the imperfections such as dents and makings of the surface.work done by Jim & Rhoda Morris- Gailieo@comcast.net---
