"The way we work together is like two trees. Above ground we seem to be totally different from each other in terms of gender, race, temperament, and energies but below ground our roots are intertwined."
Join this husband-and-wife team, a couple in the very top tier of their profession, to hear among other things their reflections on the Ellen and Howard C. Katz Wing for Modern Art and the Greenbaum Lobby. Tod and Billie reject commercial commissions and concentrate instead on educational, cultural, and residential projects in which the profit motive does not trump their aesthetic aspirations. At a time when many Museum architects are opting for bigger and more spectacular architectural extravaganzas, Williams and Tsien have opposed that trend and managed to dazzle within a relatively small space with the completion of Phoenix Art Museum's 2006 expansion. The architects use of forthright and unpretentious materials has resulted in a series of dramatic spaces that convey a thrillingly monumental effect.
THink this presentation is disjointed and not very exciting. Hard to even judge the work from this decsription -
