I walked towards the river. It was beautiful. I took off my socks and shoes and dipped my feet in. It was cold and felt good since it was so hot. My parents had sent me off to camp for the entire summer. It sounded like fun, but I'd rather be at home. Oh well. I'd make the best of this summer. This is technically my last real summer, I'm going to be a senior in high school next year. I arrived here an hour ago, and I got my cabin assignment. Everyone is supposed to be arriving today and tomorrow. I am the first girl to arrive in my cabin. They didn't tell me the names off who's in my cabin, but 5 other girls are assigned to it. I was getting bored just staring at the river. I took my feet out of the water and dried them off and hiked back into the woods and to my cabin. Cabin #5 to be exact. I swung the door open. A tall girl with black hair was facing away from me, unpacking things from a suitcase. She turned around and looked at me.
"Hi!" she said. "I'm Selena!" she walked over to me and stuck her hand out.
"Hi, I'm Demi." I replied shaking her hand. "I wasn't expecting anyone to be here yet." I laughed.
"Oh!" she said. "Is this your first year here?"
"Yes. How about you?" I asked.
"This is my third year. But welcome to camp Demi." She smiled and continued to unpack her suitcase.
"Uhm, if you don't mind, can I have the bed by the window?" I asked.
"Sure go ahead." she said. "I want this one." she pointed to a bed a few feet from mine.
I sat down on my bed and grabbed my bug spray off the shelf by my bed. It was by my photo album, full of pictures of my friends, and family. Also, I had a few pictures of my ex girlfriend Chelsea in it. There happened to be a picture of us curling up in each others arms, staring deeply into each others eyes. It was cute. I wasn't planning on telling everyone at camp my sexuality, but the pictures were to keep me from getting home sick. And I missed Chelsea. As I grabbed the bug spray, I accidently smacked the photo album and it felt on the floor. Unfortunatly, it landed close to Selena's foot and fell open to a picture of my family. Selena picked it up and was about to hand it back when she looked down on the picture.
"You have a lot of brothers and sisters." she commented.
My cheeks started to turn red. "Uh yeah." I reached for the book.
"Mind if I browse through it?" Selena asked.
I didn't want to sound rude and demand it back, I think Selena could tell that I didn't want her looking at it.
"Oh... sorry how nosy of me." She handed the album back.
I quickly put the book back on the shelf. "It's just personal." I said.
There was an awkward silence. I think Selena felt bad.
"So where are you from?" I asked.
"New Jersey." she said quietly.
"Oh that's cool. I'm from Florida." I smiled.
"Florida? That's cool." she said smiling.
"So... wanna show me around camp? I don't even know where the bath house is." I chuckled.
"Sure! Follow me!" she laughed and started to walk out the door. I followed close behind her. We spent the rest of the afternoon exploring the camp site. Not that many girls were there yet, and it was pretty quiet. We did meet a few girls though. When it got dark we headed to the mess hall. Me and Selena had hamburgers and then headed back to the cabin. A while later, counsler showed up at our cabin and invited us to go to the bonfire by the river shore. Selena curled up in a ball on her bed.
"You okay Selena?" I asked.
"Bad hamburger. I'm not feeling so well." She groaned.
"Awwh. Are you gonna stay in the cabin and rest then?" I asked.
"Yeah." she closed her eyes.
"Okay I will too." I sat down on my bed.
"No it's okay I'll be fine. Go make some friends at the bonfire."
"You sure?" I asked.
"Positive." she said.
"Okay, rest up. Feel better." I left the cabin.
The bonfire was fun. I met some new people and even met another lesbian. She was very open about her sexuality, but I didn't tell her mine. She was hot though. As I headed back to the cabin I expected the lights to be off, but they were on. I thought Selena would be asleep. I opened up the door and stepped inside and gasped.
