A Memorial Service was held for Tammy Wynette at the Ryman Auditorium, on April 9, 1998, after the private funeral service and burial. The Memorial was a time for Tammy's music family to pay their tribute to this wonderful singer.
This was the first song sung at the Memorial. The depth of the emotion expressed by J. D. Sumner & The Stamps is so very powerful. J. D. was a very sick man at the time and was aware that he would soon be having "Peace In The Valley". J. D. passed in November, 1998.
Several other very special songs from the Memorial Service are posted.
Tammy was a wonderful singer in her own time. She was in a time real Country music was still alive and well. It's like this song asks, " Who's gonna fill their shoes when all the real country singers are gone away?" Just like Loretta Lynn, Dolly Pardon, etc.it's the same way in the Good Old Southern
Gospel singers. There have been so many
of them that have already gone on to be with Jesus. I know they're rejoicing around the throne where King Jesus waits till time to comes to take his bride ho

I'll be so glad when that day is here...in Heaven with my Lord. Oh to look upon his holy face one day and be enveloped in his love!! Praise your name, Lord!!! And thank you for saving me at that old country church on that Sunday afternoon 18 years ago.

I agree she was very talented and passed way too early and suffer she did, way too much! No wonder she was in so much pain and required too much medication. Ritchie should have never been put in charge of her meds, "intravenously to boot". I simply could not understand what followed. She was worth more than he cared. Thank God we will see her at the resurrection. RIP Tammy I love you and your music legacy will live on thanks to these viseos.

Tammy Wynettes funeral service was a TESTAMENT to the importance and emotional attachment to Country Music in this country. How many other performers of any other type of music did CNN stop thier entire scheduled programming to air a funeral service LIVE?
