Rooting for Lg - Optimus SLIDER / Enlighten / Q

update: VERIZON Enlighten customers that got the over the air update to 2.3.4. It blocks being able to root. If anybody is successful in rooting after update let me know and I will post here for others. TY

Rooting the LG Optimus Slider will be the same as for the Esteem. Trying to just use Gingerbreak 1.2 or Z4root will just hang. This will also work on the optimus Q.

You will need a data cable, pc, and data connection to download files onto PC. After root is complete Gingerbreak then can be added but is OPTIONAL, as this root will already put on superuser. But you may put on Gingerbreak for purpose of unrooting. See video as I show the unrooting as well.

Rooting lets you take full advantage of what your hardware is capable of. Such as overclocking and bypass the OS's limitations. Permissions are required for such apps to operate and need root access.... tether, keyboards, customs roms, and just because you can, though the phone companies don't want you to. Please do so at your own risk.

If you get a adb error when executing run.bat it might be that your USB drivers are not installed correctly.
you may have to install adb which is park of android sdk. here is how to get it.

TEXT INSTRUCTIONS:
download drivers, download and unzip lg esteem root to folder (might have to turn off antivirus as some antivirus will deleted need files because this is an exploit and it see it as a threat), Is usb debugging enabled, make sure in charge only mode, open the run.bat file (you can also right click and choose run as administrator). recommended to do a factory reset before root as some apps cause issues.AdbError is driver issue

when unzip esteem root files there should be 8 files inside. (adb.exe, AdbWinApi.dll, AdbWinUsbApi.dll, busybox, run.bat, su, Superuser.apk, zergrush) if missing any files turn off antivirus.

when i run the commend prompt, mine doesn't send the zerglings, it desn't make my phone reboot... i see a lot of lines saying "Operable program or batch file.

adb is not recognized as an internal or external command." then it says clean up, the it says the same lines again, then it says rebooting. (but my phone doesn't actually reboot) then says the same adb lines again. then it said root complete,Enjoy. but it's actually not rooted. i don't know what is going. please help!

when I try to download the lg esteem root zip, it goes to realplayer. a window pops up saying realplayer needs more to access content. it looks for updates and comes back saying there are none. I have tried several times with no luck. please help

that is probly because real payer is prob set to open zip file. which sounds a bit weird. go instal a free zip program like 7 zip, winzip, or pea zip ... filehippo (dot) com ... a good place to get programs. once instal zip program it should take over things that realplayer took over

read through comments here of questions already answered. also try right clicking and run as administrator, check you antivirus quarantine that it didn't remove files, usb debugging. also depending on phone there is extra tips under video...

For anyone having this problem on their Optimus Slider of running: "run.bat"

and getting stuck on:

"daemon started successfully"

I did this after much searching.

Part 1: Turn off phone, and take out the battery and it back in and turn it on.

Part 2: Plugged the USB to the back of the desktop, not the front.

I ran it and... YYYYEEEESSSSS

There is an app on the play store called Root Checker. Get that, it will tell you if it's rooted or not

I have a LGL55c and went through the process and I guess it completed because it went through the reboot of my phone and stated it was rooted. I see nothing on the phone showing it completed properly, I have no downloads or apps showing on the phone.What do I need to look for to see if it was successful.
