"Bouncing in a Bottomless Pit" from Fredrik Thordendal's massively influential "Sol Niger Within" album. Word on the street is the second Fredrik Thordendal's Special Defects album is in the works at this very moment!!! :D

I took the time to transcribe the solo, here it is in PDF:

http://alannagelberg.com/music/transcriptions/Bouncing%20in%20a%20Bottomless%...

and in Guitar Pro 5 (.gp5) format:

http://alannagelberg.com/music/transcriptions/Bouncing%20in%20a%20Bottomless%...

Notes on the transcription:

-Guitar Pro automatically selects the clef based on the instrument and does not let you change the clef manually. Since this song uses a 7 string, Guitar Pro forces it to use bass clef (sorry). That's why there's one big 15ma over the entire solo, and it still ends up with 6 ledger lines at some points (lul).

-During some of the chaotic tapping parts (or "malfunctioning robot" parts), such as bars 28-30 and bars 34-36, the notes/rhythms may not be entirely correct. It's hard to pick out every note in the malfunctioning robot parts, so they are only best effort in the transcripion.

-For anyone curious about the scale used throughout the majority of the solo, it's the 2nd mode of the harmonic major scale (dorian flat5). So in other words, that's 1 maj2 min3 4 flat5 maj6 min7.

  • Absolutely jizz worthy! May I enquire as to what guitar that is? Looks verrry nice :)

  • @Tegernako1 hehe, thanks man! It's a Schecter Jeff Loomis 7 string (w/ Floyd Rose floating bridge). I'm pretty happy with it!

  • Fun song to play. How'd you learn it? Did you find tabs for it, or just slow down the audio track?

  • May I ask how long it took for you to learn this?

  • As an only average guitar player I have to echo the other comments, shit ... that was an almost inhuman performance ... you have some seriously enviable skills. Masterful. That was a privilage to witness.

  • I LOVE playing guitar. And I LOVE guitars in general. I just had to say this to this video. You obviously feel the same way.

  • Eargasm
