Experimental slow-scan galvanometer laser cnc head.
PID servo control EMC2
CD-ROM dc motors, AS5311 magnetic incremental encoders,
linear magnetic stripe Resolution: 2 micrometer.
Geometric distortion eliminate the kinematic file: galvokins.c
Fast movement: 6000mm/min, burning plastic 360mm/min
Mirror movements resolution 0.0036 deg / step
DVD laser diode is about 200mW (Pioneer DVR-112D open-can)
So as i can see, you are using simple DC Motors (do they have a gear?). And you couple them with a magnetic encoder, so you have a servomotor.
How good is the repeatability?
Thank you

@IILaryII
These are simple dc motors are very accurate.
Door open cd-rom motors
Repeatability error is about. Step 2-3.
(One step = 0.0036 deg.)
The error depends on the tuning of the PID loop.

@hg5bsd
Thank you. And how do you set the mirrors to middle? You are only using a incremental encoder. I dont want to use standart galvos, thats why I am interested in your method.
Thank you

The engine is balanced, so there remains the
given position. This is the home position. The scan starts from here and come back.
The radiation beam position can be set very low laser power. (50mA)
Once a sufficient adjust, there will remain.
