  • THANK YOU!!!ן

  • @mhdrs You're very welcome!

  • Hi,

There's a tricky one. I may go out this evening, shouldn't the phrase be: He said he might go out (that) evening?NOT this evening?

  • @MuhammadEgypt It all depends. If you are reporting the speech on the same day then it would remain 'this evening', but if you were reporting the speech some time after then it would become 'that evening'. You're right, many textbooks will teach 'that evening', but it's important to remember to consider your position in relation to the time expression.

  • I'm glad you enjoyed it! Do you have any other suggestions for videos you'd like to be made?

  • thanks a lot, best video lesson.

  • @Englischbox Yes, Mr. Ed. I've just had a test about the reported speech, and the same structure was mentioned in a sentence. It approved the the one with "THAT" as the right answer. I think most online tests are set likewise.

  • On the table that shows direct and reported speech, the last line in the first column should also have the word shall, because shall –> should. Thanks for the videos.
