This January 2011 BBC InsideOut programme looked back at the predictions Peter Cochrane made in 1996 with regards to technology and how it would be used. His predictions were pretty much on the ball.
@inquiry10 A lot sooner than that. The rate at which technology is moving now is extremely slow compared to what it will be moving in 30 years from now. There used to be a new mobile phone on the market every 4-5 years. Now, there's a new one every year. In five years from now, mobile phones will no longer be called "phones". They will be called mobile computers.

I predict that 'everyone' will never have a 3D printer....but a majority of the population will just like the density of 2D printers.

Its a matter of time...I predict around 30 years till everyone who has the internet has one
