After several requests this is the full length version of 70000 Britannia on the climb of Madeley bank on the return from Chester to London, with the cathedrals Express on 3rd December 2011. Apologies for the mysterious object at about 1.25, I was shielding the mic with my hand to keep the wind noise down...
This brings back many memories of watching steam after dark in the sixties Ralph...thanks very much for sharing the full version....much appreciated....Bob

@robmasterman I have been there several times now and it is amazing how well the sound carries when the wind is light. It is also helped by the fact the nearest main road is a mile away and not busy and the lane has very little traffic and is 300 yds down a steep hill. Noisiest thing that evening were the ducks..Almost an idea location for video.

A glorious sound. It's the sense of anticipation as it gets louder & louder, and then the light coming into view.
