A demonstration (using pencils) on how I believe a room could compress itself to smaller dimensions without crushing the walls. By having its walls extend beyond the confines of the room and applying both a horizontal and vertical force to the walls simultaneously, the room's walls would slide past each other as they pushed inward. The occupants of the room would be none the wiser, assuming the perpetrator didn't furnish the walls with any obvious decorations that would shift in position along with the wall.

Inspired by the movie "Fermat's Room", which I haven't seen but would now very much like to.

  • Well, that is pretty much the premise of the film 'fermat's room' isn't it?
