@Edmundsito15 Yeah. Of course, if anyone other than Beltran and Delgado had managed to hit scrubs like Jeff Weaver and Jeff Suppan, it might not have even gotten to a game 7. The Mets should have dispatched that team in 5.

@ianat841 I feel the same way...i even say to myself that if i could switch beltran's at-bats from this cardinal game with game 7's...

Its amazing almost 6 years later I remember almost all of these moments. What a great year until that final called strike in Game 7. I remember not liking Tom McCarthy at the time, but I thought he was better than Wayne Hagin.

Amen. I was there for that game. Almost left after Pujols made it 7-1 on a grand slam, but Delgado and Beltran brought them back. I love the 2006 team. If only they could have gone a little farther....

@ctaduran absolutely. i have been a diehard since the late 70s and this is my all-time favorite mets team...the reason they were so good and so fun and relatable was the presence of guys like pedro, endy, delgado, valentin, floyd, green, feliciano, bradford and (darren) oliver, guys who were real baseball players as well as real people, down-to-earth, play-the-game-right guys who were easy to root for and who helped show what a TEAM really is. nothing against jose, wright, beltran etc.
