This is a review of Bushman's newest harmonica, the Steelie. This video is for the members of the Bushman Music Forum, and also anyone else that wants to see this harp in action. I know I'm not the best player, but at least maybe you can get an idea of the look and sound. Hope you guys enjoy.

  • 1st batch currently goes for $26, but what was the original price? $40? $50?

If they jack up the price for these inferior Huang harps, they'll never get me to buy them instead of well-made, trusty Promasters.

  • Just becuase it's made in the same factory doesn't mean it's a Huang. Once the price goes up, the harps will no longer be inferior. Also, some have said (though I cannot verify) that the Promasters are a bit tinny sounding compared to the Steelie.

  • I've never been able to find a Bushman harp. I have an old Hohner Meisterclasse that reminds me of this steelie, i carried it for years due to it's indestructability. It's a little stiff and thin tones, i like the special 20's way better. i just bought a hohner blues bender, it was only 18 bucks and i love it.

  • Man, a little more practice and you are good.

  • Dude! It was so nice to meet and jam with you at the VA Harmonicafest! That Steelie was pretty cool looking. Don't forget to send me that Golden Melody in E-flat. Take care!

  • It only has coverplates made by Huang. The heart of the instrument are the reeds. And as you can see by the long delay, Bushman goes through a ton of extra legwork to get the gapping and specs as perfect as they can.

  • Bushman should just start mounting up the new reed sets to the mis-produced harps and sell them to recoup some revenue and get the good harps out there for recognition of their product line.

  • I am trying the Suzuki Promaster and Harpmaster next (I learned the Harpmaster model from Suzuki can be mounted up with Delta Frost reeds). I placed my order for a Suzuki Valved Promaster in F Sharp, a Suzuki Harpmaster in Db to compare against a Hohner MS Blues Harp in the same key. I am also awaiting a couple turbo harp covers to slap on a couple of my Special 20's. Bushman kind of screwed the pooch with the way this model was mis-produced. They also tell people NOT to buy the Soul's Voice.

  • I tried to get one of these and it seems impossible. Bushman called me and told me they now refuse to sell anymore of them until they have a batch produced with actual steel reeds on steel reed-plates with proper gapping so they don't need someone with 5 liter lung capacity to break them in. I was told by Bushman they don't even want a dealer in my city (he was kind of rude in the way he said it).

  • Good job Mike

  • Thanks for the review Mike (nice opening)
