Radiation from solar storms pelts Earth (January 2012)

A satellite witnessed an ultraviolet flashing hitting our planet after a solar flare from the sun erupted on Sunday and as a precaution, some polar flights are being re-routed to avoid exposing passengers to radiation. Derrick Pitts of the Franklin Institute discusses.
