@gurkenhamster If you look at this classic Python episode in German, they all had to learn the words by sound IIRC except for John Cleese - and he doesn't have the world's best accent! v=xmWN9fwmOKM

@evilrobottolhurst Oh no, I do give credit. I fucking love Mitchell and Webb and almost all of their sketches (although I must admit that I like "Numberwang" the least) and I know the accent should sound funny. I just wanted to reply that I don't think they speak German
-
@gurkenhamster I see you are German and I think you are not giving credit for a fantastic performance. He has of course to do a comedy accent to make it sound like a mindless British quiz show. You couldn't achieve that by just reading off a cue card!

@j0ofez The anthem is also "das Deutschlandlied" which is the current anthem of Germany. Before 1945 it had the words "Deutschland, Deutschland über alles" (Germany first) which clearly included much of Austria and Poland in Germany and is internationally known as the anthem of Nazi Germany. I hadn't realised it had also been "God Save The Emperor" for the Austrians (Franz Josef was King of Hungary)...

@gurkenhamster it's just the accent actually. yes, he read the script but then again he wrote it...
-
@evilrobottolhurst he doesn't. Wrong grammar, accent. He probably just readthe script
-
Omg, I actually understand all of this.
