I first went to Eastfield as a young kid with my dad on the open day in October 1972. I can vaguely remember going down under a loco in the inspection pit. My dad told me years later it was possibly a Deltic. With all the health and safety madness around nowadays I doubt it would be allowed now.

i stay right next to what was the eastfield depot and remember back in the late 70's and early 80's i was a regular visitor to the depot but even with a pass from british rail there was an old irish manager a certain mr lamb if my memory serves me correctly? would still refuse me permission to the depot. i wonder where he is now? OLD BASTARD LOL.
