Sometimes I hate the designs for annoyingly tough bosses. "Hey, let's make this guy really tough, and also, NAKED AND GREEN for some reason, with a tiny slice of armor to cover his happy place." You seem to do better when you had your Blaster gauge filled up. Do you get a buff for that?

No, but a filled blaster gauge allows you to do the 3 combo punch with fire. It takes 5 bars from it, but if you play your cards right you can do several blaster punches in short order, provided you don't get knocked down.
