Guitar Shorty is truly one of the coolest cats you'll ever meet.......and when you do meet him you better respect him as a true guitar genius. At the Cafe Boogaloo in Redondo Beach, CA he walked outside the club and was walking down the sidewalk (not too far) and jamming, while the patrons went outside with him and watched in sheer amazement. Then the police came over and told him that he has to go back inside. That's Blues right there! Nobody tells him how or where to play his music. Yeah!

The first time I saw him was at a small club in Eureka CA. He went outside there too and a bum that was sitting against the building got up and walked with him down the street. they were talking as they walked and he played. When they got back the bum sat back down and Shorty went back in and finished the song.

 music has become nothing more than a commodity, and the people who control the process take no chances. They only want stuff with a proven record. The radio stations are the same, take no chances. A and R guys used to look for new talent, for something different. Now they look for the next Auto tuned Britney Spears. If it will make you feel better there is a good version of a Britney Spears song. Look for Baby one more time by Dweezil & Achmed Zappa. It's great.

I don't know how he "ruined" the solo. I watched your response and I can't imagine how you can delude yourself to think you did a better job. I saw him again last night and he did Hey Joe and the solo was different. That's what makes it a solo it's not some wrote performance. Is guitar shorty the best player I've ever seen? I've seen about everyone so I'd have to say no. Is he one hell of a blues man? Damn right! And he's been doing it for 50 years. I'll leave yours up so others can decide.

Guitar Shorty IS famous. BIG famous requires Song Writing and Playing skills.(Don't tell me about the POP crap) I love G.S. live he is a fun performer. If you like him buy his CD and push him up the ladder!!
