@CryDevil93 The film failed compared to the stage version which by then had been seen all over the world by tens of millions of fans. You can see clips on YT to see for yourself. The producers and Webber though it had to be sexed-up for young audiences not realizing they loved the original, too. Phanatics felt betrayed after waiting decades for the film that Mr. Crawford didn't reprise his multi-award-winning Phantom. He's a phenomenal actor and would have been a superb Phantom.Butler pales.

@audiesgirl Why was the Phantom a fiasco? He did an amazing job, he put his heart and soul to that project? It's an amazing film! I watched it a hundred time even yesterday at my school with my class?! Did you see maybe Dear Frankie? Watch his facial expressions a bit closer in that movie , he's an amazing actor. I don't like him in silly sex comedies.

It better do well. It's the best, even last chance to redeem himself after the Phantom fiasco for which the producers can be blamed. Hollywood is very unforgiving. World-class stars like Fiennes et. al. can handle a flop, but Butler need to excel or it's back to doing silly sex comedies.
