Florida Golden Gloves...Formula to Save our Kids

Golden Gloves has been "fighting for youth" since the 1920's. That's over 80 years of offering America's youth positive alternatives to a life of trouble on the streets. Crime and gangs have always been a pitfall to youth, but now more than ever. Golden Gloves provides an opportunity for kids all over this country to learn to lead productive lives in our community. Florida Golden Gloves provides alternatives for youth throughout the State of Florida. Our main struggle is not with youth, but rather the budget challenges that face us everyday. Boxing is the vehicle, but Golden Gloves is so much more than boxing. Many of our Golden Gloves gyms around the country offer GED classes, computer labs, counseling, homework help, life skills training, and more than anything else; a place to go after school where kids are welcome. In short, we provide a safe haven, where America's youth can come to learn and improve, very often a self-esteem building experience. Lessons are learned, long after the bell sounds for their final round of boxing, that carry many of our Golden Gloves alumni to successful and productive lives.
