  • I heard that zoning and codes often prohibit prefab homes, even nice ones like this, because of the connotations with "trailers". Nobody wants trailers in their nice neighborhood. Prefabs have come a long way though, and look better all the time.

  • @lizzzie210

This is NOT a site built home. Otherwise, it'd be called a "HOUSE" instead of a "Modular" home..

Do a little research, and be at least moderately educated on the subject before trying to argue with someone who actually knows what they're talking about.

"Modular homes are sectional prefabricated buildings or houses that consist of multiple modules or sections which are manufactured in a remote facility and then delivered to their intended site of use."

  • @BillySlone I see you don't read much Billy Boy, a modular home is NOT a manufactured, aka trailer home!!

  • I agree this guys house design and finishes are lacking but those were his choice I'm guessing. Not sure what architect would claim that design, hope it was for the inside

Same building codes as a Stick built and even stronger in order to be able to transport and crane. not to mention most things are cut and built using jigs to ensure everything is true and square. And onsite quality inspectors like and factory. look at a stick, most now use foam board for the walls not plywood or OSB.

  • Having used to build "stick" houses, modular is the way we'll be going. Every crew I worked, and these were quality builders, the mentality was once the drywall is up the homw owner won't know. Not to mention weather. nothing like having your frame soaked for a week and a half of showers and then coming in the first dry day and closing it in. mold rot etc??

  • In the process of deciding whether to go with a conventional stick built or modular home. I'll admit I was skeptical as hell to begin with. I'm building a 3600sq ft home and have received price quotes from 2 local builders and 3 modular home builders. The price difference is about 125k, give or take a few thousand. I've walked through 2 modular homes on site in various stages of the build out. Quality is great ! The two homes I've build with Toll & Orleans basically are a POS.

  • @BillySlone I think you might be confusing modular and prefab homes.

  • @kevintomb

No? lol... It clearly states in the title of the video that it is, in fact, a modular home... Which of coarse means, it's not a site-built HOUSE, but a manufactured mobile home, aka - a trailer. lol

  • @sam133ms

First off, modular construction IS STICK BUILT. Its the exact same thing, but just stronger in some ways since it has to endure being moved and lifted in modules. If you knew about houses you should have known that. If you were in this industry 10 years, you wouldnt make comments that are false would you?
